UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014 Finalists
UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014 has gone a step further towards its conclusion. Among top 10 best players nominated on the basis of their performance for both club and country top 3 have been shortlisted. The players, who gained the most points in the second poll and became the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014 finalists, include:
1: Cristiano Ronaldo:
The Portuguese Superstar leads the race and is heart favorite for this year’s award. The three time finalist enjoyed a stunning individual season in which he led Real Madrid to Copa Del Rey and Champions League conquest. He also recorded both goals during Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla. His 31 goals and 9 assists in last season of La liga alongwith a record-breaking tally of 17 goals in 11 Champions League appearances has brought him among the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014 finalists for the fourth successive year. With the fact that current Award winner Franck Ribery is not even in the game due to injury and his biggest professional rival Lio Messi’s failure to reach in top 3, Cristiano Ronaldo seems triumphant already.
2. Manuel Neuer:
The second player who has made his spot in UEFA Best Player in Europe Award 2014 finalists is Manuel Neuer. Germany’s No.1 Neuer was ever-present during his country’s FIFA World Cup victory in Brazil, keeping four clean sheets in seven games. Neuer, who also helped Bayern to the 2013/14 domestic double, was named German footballer of the year for a second time on 10 August. He is the first goalkeeper to make to the final three. The fact that his performance for both his club and country has been excellent throughout the year may impose a little threat on Cristiano Ronaldo’s challenge.
3. Arjen Robben:
On the final spot of the prestigious UEFA Best Player in Europe Award finalists for the year 2014 is Dutch winger Arjen Robben. His 11 goals and six assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances last season and also four goals and assisted four in 10 Champions League games has brough him to the top three.
Except these top three positions, to be filled on 28th of August through a live voting by Journalists in Monaco, rest 6 positions have been announced. The list of remaining players with their respective position and points received is as follows:
