Unbelievable but true; Yasir Jan is possibly the world’s only fast bowler who can bowl right and left-arm with equal pace (145pkh), line and length.
‘Jazz Rising Stars’ is a unique Talent Hunt program to find young cricketing talent from the streets of Punjab and take their intemperate passion for cricket. The aim of the program is bring the talent of youngsters to newer heights by setting up training and development programs. Lahore Qalandars recently made an announcement that they found a rare talent during their talent hunt program.
We are talking about a young rising superstar Yasir Jan. A fast bowler who can bowl 145kph with both arms! Yes you heard that right a fast bowler that can generate speed oh 145kph not just with one but both arms. Astonishing!!! Isn’t it?? Facing a fast bowler who can click 145kph mark is a nightmare for any batsman, but facing the same bowler who can generate the same speed with both arms is nightmare coming true.
Ambidextrous Pakistani Yasir Jan was discovered during Lahore Qalandar’s ‘Jazz Rising Stars’ trials in Rawalpindi recently, catching the eye of on looking scouts including former Pakistan paceman Aaqib Javed. Aqib also said that it’s only a matter of time that yasir will be good fast bowler. Yasir is reportedly faster with right arm as compared to left but generates more bounce with left arm.
“This is the first time I have seen a bowler who can bowl fast with both arms,” Javed told media.
Yasir, originally from Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, currently resides in Islamabad, and says he has been bowling with both arms since childhood.
“I have practiced bowling with both left and right arm all my life, I try to imitate every bowler I see,” Yasir told Geo News.
Yasir Jan is great discovery of ‘Jazz Rising Stars’ a program dedicated to search the young cricketing talent in Pakistan especially in Punjab. The trials took place in eight cities of Punjab in which over 1 lac youngsters participated. The top two performers (one batsman and one bowler) will get the chance to play for Lahore in the Pakistan Super League. While the other selected players will travel to Australia to train with KFC Big Bash League champions Sydney Thunder.
Bowling with both arms with 145pkh speed is rare ability, but unfortunately fortunately the Laws of Cricket do not allow a bowler to change delivery arm without informing the umpire, and therefore the batsman, beforehand. Former English captain Graeme Gooch possessed the same ability although he was unable to generate such furious pace that Yasir can produce.
It’s only a matter of time to see how Yasir grooms himself and utilizes his unique ability and hoe he performs on domestic and international level.
